Quick update

The Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board (GSSSB) has released Advertisement No. 468/2026-27 for 1,237 Class III posts under the Combined Competitive Examination (Group A and Group B). Online forms open on OJAS on 5 November 2026 at 2 PM and close on 30 November 2026.

If you are a graduate aged 20 to 35 and comfortable reading Gujarati or Hindi, this is one of the biggest clerical openings in Gujarat this year. Most of the seats, 994 of them, are Junior Clerk posts. The other 243 are Group A posts such as Sub Registrar, Samaj Kalyan Inspector and Assistant Tribal Development Officer.

We read the full 38-page advertisement so you do not have to. Below you will find the dates, the post-wise vacancies, the fee, the age rules, the fixed pay for each post, the two-stage exam pattern and the exact steps to apply on OJAS.

Should you apply?

Apply if you already hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university and you are between 20 and 35 years old on 30 November 2026. One form covers both groups, because the preliminary exam is common to Group A and Group B.

Skip it if you are still waiting for your degree and cannot show it, or if you are over the age limit and do not fall in a relaxed category. If you are a reserved-category candidate, note this rule: if you apply against an unreserved post, you do not get the age relaxation.

Selection process

  1. Preliminary examAn MCQ screening test common to both groups: 150 questions, 150 marks, 120 minutes, with 0.25 marks cut for each wrong answer. These marks are not counted in the final merit.

  3. Main examGroup A writes three descriptive papers (Gujarati 100, English 100, General Studies 150, three hours each). Group B writes one 200-mark MCQ paper of 120 minutes.
  4. Merit list and documentsThe final list is drawn from main exam marks, followed by document verification. Eligible widows and qualifying sportspersons get 5% of their marks added.

The minimum qualifying standard is 40% in every stage and every paper, for all categories. The prelims split is English 15, Gujarati 15, General Awareness and Current Affairs 30, Quantitative Aptitude 30 and Reasoning 60.
